Search for a permanent hair removal device in Pakistan and you will find dozens of brands promising to remove hair “forever” in four to six weeks. Most of those claims are not true, and it is worth knowing why before you spend money.
Here is the honest version: what “permanent” means in clinical terms, which technologies genuinely deliver lasting results, and what you should realistically expect.
“Permanent removal” vs “permanent reduction”
These are two different clinical outcomes, and only one of them is achievable with a home device.
Permanent hair removal means the follicle is destroyed and will never produce hair again. Only electrolysis achieves this reliably — and only one follicle at a time, by inserting a fine probe and destroying it electrically. It is genuinely permanent. It is also slow, uncomfortable and impractical for large areas.
Permanent hair reduction means a significant, lasting decrease in the number and thickness of hairs. This is what IPL and laser deliver: typically 70–90% reduction after a full course, with occasional maintenance to hold it.
That is the honest ceiling for any home device sold in Pakistan — including ours. A brand telling you otherwise is either misinformed or hoping you are.
Technology comparison
| Technology | Genuinely permanent? | Realistic result | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electrolysis | Yes | 100% on treated follicles | Clinic only | High, per-follicle, very slow |
| Diode / Nd:YAG laser | Reduction, not removal | 80–95% after 6–8 sessions | Clinic | Multi-lakh + maintenance |
| Home IPL | Reduction, not removal | 70–90% after full course | At home | Rs.9,999–35,999, one-time |
| Epilator | No | Temporary — weeks | At home | Rs.5,000–20,000 |
| Waxing / threading | No | Temporary — 2–4 weeks | Salon or home | Recurring forever |
| Shaving | No | Temporary — 1–3 days | At home | Recurring forever |
Why nothing at home is 100% permanent
Your hair follicles cycle through three phases: active growth (anagen), transition (catagen) and rest (telogen). Only follicles in the active growth phase can be damaged by light. At any moment, roughly 20–30% of the follicles in an area are in that phase.
That is why you need 8+ sessions spaced weeks apart — each session catches a different set of growing follicles. And it is why some follicles inevitably survive: they were dormant every time you treated, or they were damaged but not destroyed and eventually recovered.
Add hormonal changes — pregnancy, PCOS, thyroid conditions, ageing — which can activate previously dormant follicles, and you can see why “forever” is not a claim any honest brand makes.
What genuinely lasting results look like
After a properly completed IPL course:
- Most of the hair in treated areas is gone
- What remains is noticeably finer and lighter
- You shave once every few weeks instead of every few days
- A top-up session every 2–3 months holds it there
For most people, that is functionally what they wanted when they searched for “permanent”. The results last — they just are not absolute.
Choosing a device for lasting results
Three specifications actually correlate with how permanent your results feel:
1. Flash capacity. Lasting results require completing the full course plus years of maintenance. A device that runs out of flashes at session 10 cannot deliver lasting anything. Every device in our range carries close to 1,000,000 flashes.
2. Adequate intensity range with cooling. Higher energy damages follicles more effectively. Cooling is what makes higher energy tolerable. Devices without cooling get used at lower settings, which produces weaker results. Cooling is on our TSLO7 and above.
3. Skin tone sensor. Not directly related to permanence, but if you burn or hyperpigment at session two and stop using the device, you get no results at all. On Pakistani skin (Fitzpatrick III–V), the sensor is what keeps you consistent. Available on the TSLO8 and TSLO10.
| Device | Price | Lamp | Flashes | Cooling | Skin sensor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TSLO9 Sapphire Ice | Rs.29,599 | Sapphire | 999,999 | Sapphire ice | No |
| TSLO10 Elite | Rs.35,999 | Sapphire | 10 lakh | Ice cooling | Yes |
| TSLO8 Elite | Rs.34,999 | Sapphire | 990,000+ | Yes | Yes |
Red flags in “permanent hair removal” marketing
- “Permanent results in 4 weeks” — biologically impossible given the hair growth cycle
- “100% permanent removal” from any home device — only electrolysis achieves this
- “Works on all hair colours” — IPL cannot target grey, white or red hair. There is no pigment.
- “Works on all skin tones” — home IPL is genuinely unsuitable for Fitzpatrick VI
- “Salon-grade diode laser” under Rs.50,000 — mislabelled IPL
- No flash count published — the seller does not want you doing the maths
FAQs
Is there any truly permanent hair removal device for home use?
No. Electrolysis is the only clinically permanent method, and it requires a trained practitioner. Home IPL devices deliver permanent hair reduction — typically 70–90% — which is lasting but not absolute.
How long do IPL results last in Pakistan?
After a completed course, most users maintain 70–90% reduction with a top-up session every two to three months. Without maintenance, hair gradually returns over 12–24 months, though usually finer than before.
Can hair grow back after IPL?
Yes, some can. Dormant follicles that were never in the growth phase during treatment can activate later, and hormonal changes can trigger new growth. This is normal and is managed with maintenance sessions.
What is the most permanent option available in Pakistan?
Electrolysis for absolute permanence on small areas. Clinic diode or Nd:YAG laser for the strongest reduction on large areas. Home IPL for the best combination of results, cost and convenience.
Does permanent hair reduction work on the face?
It works, but more slowly. Facial hair — especially chin and jaw hair driven by hormones — is the most stubborn area and typically needs ongoing maintenance indefinitely.
